Participate in CARÉ life
About the event
CARÉ is a place that offers unconditional support to adults in extremely vulnerable situations in Geneva. Every day, people come here to find a hot meal, a place to rest, a sympathetic ear, and basic services (hygiene, social support, activities). During this volunteer day, you will join the team to put people first in a very concrete way.
By participating in this event, you will contribute to:
- Preparing and serving meals (setting the table, serving, clearing up)
- Welcoming people with respect and simplicity (being present, chatting, building relationships)
- Supporting hygiene and social services (guidance, distribution of basic products, etc.)
- Leading or co-leading activities that promote trust and interaction (games, workshops, social time)
This volunteer work does not require any specific technical skills, but it does require:
- a willingness to listen without judging,
- respect for people's dignity and confidentiality,
- and the ability to work as part of a team in what can sometimes be a stressful environment.
By joining this day, you are doing more than just "lending a hand": you are offering your time, presence, and consideration to people who often lack these things. CARÉ is also a place of training and learning for volunteers: you will be supervised by the team, made aware of the realities of precariousness in Geneva, and supported throughout your commitment.
